Mon City Church,  Worship in the Park

Music in The Park

Coming Soon to Monongahela and surrounding cities!

Worship is a time of Refreshing – As we Connect to Jesus, He Promises Rest for our Souls, and Healing to the body.

How does this happen? Worship shifts our Focus off of the overwhelming pressures of each day, and on to Jesus, who is our Healer, Deliverer, and Comforter, who “Heals the Broken in Heart and binds up our wounds.”

Jesus also invites us to Come to Him where we will find spiritual rest and offers His gentle guidance rather than the heavy burdens of this life. By “taking His yoke” and learning from Him, one finds rest, as His Way, the plan He has for us is Always Good, Easy and Light, bringing Peace to the soul.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to Me, All you who are weary and burdened, and I will give You Rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am Gentle and Humble in Heart, and you will Find Rest for your souls. For My yoke is Easy and my burden is light.”

What is Jesus talking about when he uses the word, Yoke? A yoke represents “being connected to” (similar to two oxen, Yoke in the Greek is the word zygos – a yoke; a wooden bar placed over the neck of a pair of animals so they can “pull together” (figuratively) what “unites (joins) two people to move (work) together as one. Just like the verse in Galatians 3:28, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for “you are All ONE in Christ Jesus.” We are yoked together, we are All One in Christ Jesus, Working Together. Paul says this similarly in 1 Corinthians 12, “The hand cannot say to the foot, ‘I have no need of you.” Jesus is the Head of the Body, and We Together are the body of Christ; we are One in Christ Jesus.

That is what He is saying in Matthew 11:29, we are United in Him, Working Together, and when we obey Him and follow His plan for us, He helps lighten the load of this life, He Guides us and gives us wisdom, leading us according to His path; His plan that is easy and light.

WORSHIP TO THE LORD LIGHTENS YOUR BURDENS: I noticed this recently, how powerful Music is, Music that leads us to Focus on Jesus, and as we “lift Him Up” He promises to draw “All People” unto Himself. I have been a worship leader for many years and I have also been in the congregation of other Believer’s during a time of Worship with music, and I have noticed and realized that this form of worship helps to lift the burdens of life. Why? Because we are Shifting our focus off of ourselves and the heaviness which often times is brought on by worry and care. Therefore, during worship we’ve getting our attention Off of ourselves and on to Jesus. Worship acts as a deliberate “Choice” to focus on God rather than problems.

THE ACT OF WORSHIP: Is a conscious decision to surrender worries, which lightens the load, “My Yoke is easy and my burden is Light.” And once our focus shifts off the the problems of life, and on to Jesus, then we are “connected” to Him, Like a “yoke” Working “Together” Rather than us trying to get God to do what we want. Remember His Promise is, “I Know the plans for you (His plans, not our plans) they are Good and Not evil, to Give you a Future and a Hope.”

Come let us Worship and Give Praise to Him “Together.”
